I guess it was only a matter of time before there was another story about a catholic priest abusing someone. This time not to far from my part of the world, just about 90 minutes to the southeast.

It seems Fr Mello , the pastor at St Michael and St Joseph parish in Fall River MA has been placed on administrative leave while allegations of misconduct are being investigated. As of this writing there is at least one adult who has filed a complaint although the article hints there might be more.

You can read the article for yourself. At first I thought “at least it was with an adult” but then it is just as bad. Adult, child, male or female it doesn’t matter, it’s wrong. As Catholics we expect our priests to be trustworthy. We expect them to be like Jesus Christ our savior. We expect them to be our protector.

I don’t know if this allegation is true or not. It is possible that the person making the accusation is making it up for some nefarious reason. I don’t know. I would hope that any and all people involved pray long and hard about this matter and if someone hasn’t been honest they come clean.

I don’t have any answers on how to stop these things from happening. Whether the allegations are true or whether they are false and being fabricated for some reason, I can see the hands of the Evil One in this. We have let our guard down and just as Jesus told us he would be back even more powerful than before.

Matthew 12:43–45 (RSV2CE): When the unclean spirit has gone out of a man, he passes through waterless places seeking rest, but he finds none. Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. Then he goes and brings with him seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first. So shall it be also with this evil generation.”

It is time we clean our houses. Judgement day is coming.
