Over the years I have written about how various scripture passages have made a difference in my life. Matthew 6:34 is one of those.
It was in reading this passage (along with others) that I realized that I had to trust in God and live one day at a time. Only He knows what will happen tomorrow so we should only worry about today.
Does this mean we should just sit back and do nothing because God is going to take care of us? No. Like I wrote a few posts ago about not taking some passages literally, like plucking out your eye if it causes you to sin, it’s the same thing here.
We still need to work. We still need to provide for our families. Jesus tells us this in scripture too. But we need to do it one day at a time. In my case I had become so overwhelmed with the issues I was dealing with that I froze up. I was paralyzed and didn’t know how to handle the situation. Then one day as I was reading my bible God told me what I needed to do.
But we need to do it one day at a time. In my case I had become so overwhelmed with the issues I was dealing with that I froze up. I was paralyzed and didn’t know how to handle the situation. Then one day as I was reading my bible God told me what I needed to do.
I realized I had to trust in God and he would take care of me. He would guide me. He wouldn’t send me money or food or put a roof over my head but He would show me the way. God will take care of those who take care of themselves. All you need to do is listen to Him, love Him and trust Him. You need to make an effort to help yourself and live a good life keeping the end in mind.
When God sees you are trying He will make it happen. When I started following Jesus’s teachings, when I started helping others, things began to change for the better. I realized I could only do what I could do and worrying about things wasn’t going to help.
God helped me to make some difficult decisions and it was tough and it took some time and effort but I got through it. I paid off my debt and I am happier now than I have ever been. I brought God back into my life and He has been my Savior in more ways than one
I’ll end with this: If you don’t want to believe in God then you can just let the government take care of you. If you believe that’s their responsibility go ahead. But I am pretty sure that there will be a different end when you are called to answer for your sins
Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Let the day’s own trouble be sufficient for the day. Mt 6:34
