I have often written about how the secular world doesn’t want us to be close to Jesus, and through the work of Satan, will do everything possible to make this happen. One of those things is the constant noise we hear from our phones, computers, televisions, and other devices. These things distract us from God and the peace he gives us.
In my last post, I discussed how Jesus wants to give us his peace. This peace will help us stay focused and calm no matter what the world may send our way.
We look to our devices as a means of bringing happiness into our lives. We have been fooled into believing this is where pleasure and joy come from. We settle for this, and we still aren’t happy. Yet we can’t understand why. The world attacks our morality and beliefs every day, and I believe a lot of this comes through our “devices”.
Maybe we should start searching somewhere else, like perhaps the Bible or our local church?
Why would we settle for earthly “joys” and earthly pleasures when we are called to share in delights beyond what we could ever imagine?
This is the human condition—to be without the true source of happiness, which is the experience of the presence of God, and to have lost the key to happiness, which is the contemplative dimension of life
