No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your strength, but with the temptation will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. – 1 Corinthians 10:13 (RSV2CE)
If I had to choose one bible verse as the one that has been the most influential in my life this is the one. When I first started my journey back to the Lord and was full of questions, this verse was the one that answered my biggest question.
Why, when I was drinking excessively, was I always able to stop “cold turkey” before I reached the point of no return? Because He knew if I went down any further I wouldn’t get back.
I have been re-reading the Bible lately. going back to some of the passages that meant so much to me when I first came across them. I still get the same thrill all these years later. Even though I haven’t been quite as devout as I should be. I still believe in what Jesus has taught us, and do my best to follow his teachings, as well as let him guide me.
“Living with the End in Mind” continues to be my philosophy. I truly believe this is the answer. The goal of anyone’s life should be to get to heaven. And the way to do that is to listen to His word, follow His “rules”, and when your time comes, God will be there with His clipboard and will let you in the narrow gate.
Stay tuned for more on this. Now that I have more time, I will write more than I have been and maybe this idea of “Living with the End in Mind” will turn into a book.
