Taking the Narrow Gate

How often when faced with a choice do we opt for the easiest one? How often do we follow the crowd and do what everyone else is doing, even if we aren’t sure it is the right thing to do? Or to follow along with Jesus’ teaching and take the broad road in order to go through the wide gate?

We need to life our lives with one goal in mind that is to get to Heaven.

“Enter through the narrow gate, for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many. How narrow the gate and constricted the road thgateat leads to life. And those who find it are few.” -Matthew 7:13 – 14

When Jesus talks about the narrow gate, he is referring to the gate to Heaven. If you want to get to Heaven you need
to strive to enter through the narrow gate. That means making the right choices, the right decisions, and the ones that are morally correct. We need to avoid sin and temptation or else we will be like the others and go down the wide road and through the broad gate. The broad gate leads to Hell.

I remember back in my formative years during the early seventies, and even until a few years ago, I stayed on the wide road and that led me to the broad gate. Of course until recently I didn’t know this, I had no idea of what the wide gate and the narrow gate were. I didn’t know how important getting through the narrow gate was and that this should be the goal of all of us.

The narrow gate leads to spending eternity with Jesus and this is God’s plan and wish for all of us. Getting there is based on the choices we make. We should do everything we can to make the right choices.
