One More Test

In my last post I spoke of how I have been feeling down lately and have lost confidence in myself. The question arises: Is God testing me?

I have written about this before. but would like to elaborate a little more on it. I don’t think God tests us per se. Satan, however certainly does. Satan tempts us every day, as he is tempting me lately. This also leads to a second question: Does God play favorites? Are there some who He takes care of more than others?

Again, the answer is in the Bible. One verse, Acts 11:34 – 35 says:

And Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly, I perceive that God shows no partiality, but in every nation any one who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.”

This tells us he doesn’t have favorites, but in Romans 2: 6 – 8  we read:

For he will render to every man according to his works, to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will eternal life; but for those who are factious and do not obey the truth, but obey wickedness, there will be wrath and fury.

In other words as long as you obey God’s wishes, you will be okay, you will receive eternal life. And eternal life after all is the reward at the end of the game. So I suppose we can argue that God does play favorites in this way.

I know I will get through this and I won’t fall back to my old ways. If I were though I know God would help me as always has in the past. After all:

God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your strength, but with the temptation will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.  – 1 Cor10:13

  1. Stay strong in Him. I know it doesn’t solve anything to say “I’ve been there, got the t-shirt, came back from there, and I’m heading there again for sure” but I’ll maybe it’ll help to know you’re in a place that many of us visit often.
